In the 2000s, the spreading use of smartphones and the introduction of Bluetooth connectivity made it simpler to listen to audio anywhere. Then, with advancing telecommunications systems, higher-quality streaming services emerged. This made it possible for people to enjoy lossless, high-resolution music easily on their mobile devices.
In this movement toward higher resolution music, the Technics True Wireless Earbuds AZ series was born. Technics was determined to bring the excitement of listening to high-end audio through true wireless earbuds that would be affordable for a much wider audience. To achieve that, it was essential for high-quality music sources to become widely available. Technics focused on preparing in advance, anticipating the emergence of higher-quality music sources in the market.

Creating True Wireless Earbuds Without Compromise on Call Quality
In pursuit of creating “the most excellent experience” that true wireless earbuds can deliver, we had to consider another critical factor besides listening to music. We also needed to focus on the earbuds’ performance as a ‘voice communication device.’ The COVID-19 pandemic triggered an exponential increase in remote communication. Thus, true wireless earbuds became essential as an everyday tool for video and audio calls.
That’s why we sought unparalleled performance in call quality as well as the ultimate sound experience in the development of the Technics AZ Series. The aim was to realize ‘voice communication that sounds real and feels as natural as talking to a person right in front of you, even when they are far away.’
Packed with 60 Years of Accumulated Technologies for ‘Sound’
Technics has been pushing past limits in reproducing the authentic sound of music for more than 60 years. We have developed numerous world-leading and world-first technologies. With this DNA, the Technics AZ series was born with three key original ideas that grew out of the company’s rich and diverse background in audio technology.
1. Acoustic Design Based on High-end Audio Philosophy
The sound quality of a speaker depends on its structure, which creates air vibrations and controls the delivery of those air vibrations. One major focus in Technics’ HiFi speaker development over 60 years was this issue of air control.
Technics’ design philosophy has also been applied to the ultra-compact enclosure of Technics True Wireless Earbuds. They were engineered to have a precisely designed system for suppressing unwanted internal reverberations to deliver undisturbed air vibrations. This is a unique commitment of Technics that stems from our roots as a high-end audio device maker.
2. Magnetic Fluid Drivers
Magnetic fluid technology, originally developed for high-end audio applications, has been applied to the magnetic fluid drivers in the AZ100. In conventional magnetic fluid speakers, magnetic fluid is used to dissipate heat. In the EAH-AZ100, it is being utilized to control the diaphragm. By adding magnetic fluid between the vibrating parts of the driver, we were able to precisely control the diaphragm’s movement and realize unprecedented stability. This results in reference-class sound, clearly expressing even heavy low frequencies while suppressing distortion and conveying the finest nuances of sound.
3. Pursuit of ‘Call’ Quality
The Technics AZ series thoroughly pursues the ‘natural sound of conversation’ in cooperation with Panasonic, our parent company. For over 20 years, Panasonic’s telephone business held the ‘No. 1’ global market share in landline telephone sales and developed its solid reputation for excellent telephone voice technology. In the development of the AZ series, particular emphasis was placed on eliminating extraneous noise and delivering natural sounding voice in conversations. Through repeated efforts to perfect the system, JustMyVoice™ was developed. JustMyVoice combines beamforming technology to pick up the voice effectively and voice analysis technology. The latest EAH-AZ100 features even more advanced “Voice Focus AI.”
The Future of Technics True Wireless Earbuds
Technics True Wireless Earbuds are the result of combining high-end audio technology with advanced voice communication technology developed for telephones. The EAH-AZ70 was introduced in 2020 as the first in the EAH-AZ series. In its fourth year, the EAH-AZ80 was released in 2023 and received numerous awards in various countries for its high level of refinement as a product, including its expressive sound, noise cancellation performance, and three-point multipoint connection. In 2025, the EAH-AZ100 was launched, realizing greater sound expression using magnetic fluid drivers. The EAH-AZ100 has been receiving even more enthusiastic reviews than the EAH-AZ80.
